A national treasure
South Africa’s most cherished hotel stands majestically on Umhlanga’s beachfront, overlooking the Indian Ocean & the iconic lighthouse.
Our residents-only hotel, with a prestigious Forbes Five-Star rating, has been recognised as the number one hotel in the UK for more than a decade.
Arrive at our private entrance overlooking the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace, imbued with the subtle fragrance of Hotel 41’s own signature scent, and be welcomed with a personal check-in and a glass from our beautiful Champagne trolley. In your bedroom or suite, discover a selection of homemade treats created by our Executive Chef, along with a supremely comfortable, handcrafted Savoir bed. An unforgettable experience begins...
As part of a joint venture with Bedford Estates, we have installed beehives in the leafy enclave of Montague Street Gardens. The hives are home to over 20,000 bees that play an important role in supporting the surrounding ecosystem, as well as providing the beautifully fragrant local honey served at the hotel.
You can learn more about beekeeping and the role bees play at our hotel on our MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience.
We are continuing our efforts to phase out single-use plastics by 2022 and reducing our food waste in partnership with Winnow. We also help to support the local community as well as a variety of initiatives, and together with The TreadRight Foundation, we strive to #MakeTravelMatter.
