We are proud to be a part of the family-owned and run Red Carnation Hotel Collection, and strive to create unique and memorable experiences for our guests.

The Montague on the Gardens is a charming Georgian townhouse, in a peaceful location in literary Bloomsbury. Just steps from the British Museum and a short walk from Covent Garden and Shaftesbury Avenue for many of London’s best theatres. The hotel overlooks the private Montague Street Gardens, providing guests with the perfect backdrop for al-fresco dining and also home to the ‘Montague Bees’.

Renowned for signature British cuisine that makes the most of organic, seasonal and British ingredients. Our Executive Chef Martin Halls, offers an enticing and delicious menu, alongside signature dishes from Founder & President Bea Tollman. Our chic Leopard Bar offers live music, classic cocktails and whisky tasting experiences, whilst our Garden Terrace boasts a private cigar terrace.

Our delicious Afternoon Tea includes a scrumptious selection of warmly baked plain and raisin scones, delicious cakes, freshly hand-cut sandwiches including egg and mayo, smoked salmon, chicken, cucumber and cream cheese. With a wide selection of specialty teas, and Champagne by the glass, afternoon tea can be enjoyed al-fresco on the terrace or in our pretty conservatory.

From exclusively curated local experiences including our own curated experience, Wheels & Waves, a cooking masterclass with Le Cordon Bleu, or a private tour of the British Museum, there is no shortage of things to do in Bloomsbury. Guests can also try their hand at Beekeeping, in the Montague Street Gardens or savour a delicious picnic feast in the private setting of Bedford Square Gardens.

We are renowned for our fun and creative pop-up events, including our 'Beach Bar' and 'Ski Lodge'. The Montague ‘Beach Bar’ returns each summer, complete with real sand, a beach-hut style thatched roof, delicious cocktails and BBQ platters. In winter we celebrate the festive season in our alpine themed ‘Ski Lodge’ featuring pine trees, falling snow, delicious festive canapes, mulled wine and our exclusive Lanson Champagne Bar.

The Montague is a popular choice for weddings and celebrations, where elegant surroundings, delicious menus and personal service combine to create the perfect event. From intimate gatherings to larger events up to 200 guests, our dedicated team are on hand to take care of every thoughtful detail, and to ensure that your special event is a truly memorable experience.

We enjoy warmly welcoming our guests back to The Montague, remembering details from previous stays, preparing special treats for our younger guests and V.I.Ps (Very Important Pets) and providing warm and caring service. Our team is proud to have worked together for many years, and is always willing to go the extra mile, creating unique experiences and adding thoughtful touches to enhance our guests stay.

Each and every one of our guest rooms and suites is elegantly and individually designed. From garden facing rooms and suites, to family studios and multi bedroom apartments which feature a private entrance and patio area. All of our guest rooms are designed with our guest’s comfort in mind and include luxury Floris amenities, marble bathrooms and luxury savoir beds.

We are deeply committed to protecting our environment and contributing to the local community. We have removed over 30 single-use plastics from our hotel and implemented Winnow Solutions to help reduce our food waste. We enjoy keeping 20,000 bees in our gardens, producing honey for our guests to enjoy at breakfast. We are proud to support local charities such as The Springboard Charity, Action Against Hunger, Great Ormond Street Hospital and WE Charity.
